HYGEIA Group: Tree donation to Rhodes
HYGEIA and MITERA hospitals donated 60 Golden Crest trees to the Regional Unit of Rhodes, Region of Southern Aegean, as part of HYGEIA Group’s extensive Corporate Social Responsibility campaign.
The trees, which had been used to decorate the exterior of the hospitals during Christmas, were delivered to Regional Nursery of Southern Aegean SA, and will be planted in areas across the island of Rhodes which were seriously affected by the fires in the summer of 2013.
The Deputy Regional Head for the Dodecanese, Mr Fotios Chatzidiakos, kindly thanked HYGEIA Group’s management for their donation, noting, “Through its Corporate Social Responsibilities initiatives, HYGEIA Group has been contributing to the progress and prosperity of Greek society, and has demonstrated its social awareness and keen interest in human values, culture and environmental protection. Upon consulting with the Municipality of Rhodes Landscaping Department and the Region of Southern Aegean agronomists, the trees will be planted on Mt. Profitis Ilias, where the Municipality organizes summer camps. Mt. Profotis Ilias is the highest point of the island and is considered the most suitable location for these trees to flourish.”
On her part, HYGEIA Group’s CEO, Ms Areti Souvatzoglou, stated, “Apart from continuously striving to protect human health, be it public to private, we also care for the sustainability of the environment; both are equally binding commitments for HYGEIA Group. Focusing on comprehensive environmental management and with a strong sense of responsibility towards the environment, we are hoping that this donation will breathe new life into the afflicted areas of Rhodes.”
