The Group «HYGEIA-MITERA-LITO» stands by the fire victims of Ilia Prefecture
The Group «HYGEIA-MITERA-LITO» stands by the fire victims of Ilia Prefecture HYGEIA and MITERA Hospitals stood by the victims of the catastrophic fires in Ilia Prefecture offering 23 electricity generators to villages in 6 Municipalities, while ambulances (Mobile Units) staffed by volunteer doctors and nurses examined residents of this area offering at the same time free medical and pharmaceutical materials.
The goal of this first visit was to relieve the pain of the fire victims, to record their needs and to investigate the necessity of further aid.
In particular, 3 Mobile Units with 6 doctors, 14 nurses and administration personnel as well as 23 electricity generators were sent to the isolated villages of the Municipalities of Zacharo, Fighaleia, Andritsaina, Alifeira, Ancient Olympia and Foloi.
Three large generators were delivered to the Municipality of Zacharo and the Municipality Departments of Artemis and Kalidhoni-Kostamera, and at the same time 20 smaller generators were delivered to the villages of Makisto, Chrisochori, Minthi and Ag. Ilia in the Municipality of Zacharo; Perivolia, Petralona, Stomio and Ancient Fighaleia in the Municipality of Fighaleia; Kafkania, Krioneri, Chelidoni in the Municipality of Ancient Olympia, Douka, Milies in the Municipality of Foloi and Amyghdalies, Leivadhakia in the Municipality of Alifeira.
From Thursday 30.08 to Friday 31.08, the Team visited more than 30 villages in the aforementioned Municipalities of Ilia Prefecture, installed generators and performed large number of medical examinations, also visited the Health Centres of these Municipalities to offer medical and pharmaceutical materials.
The persons examined shall continue to receive free examination services by the Group’s doctors for as long as they need it.
The Employees Association of MITERA also contributed to this effort by sendingessential aid (food and clothing).
After the first aid shipment, that had also an investigation character, there will be others addressing the needs that have been recorded.
