MITERA: 4th Two-Day Adult Congenital Heart Disease Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Conference on Modern Treatment of Adult Congenital Heart Disease
The 4th Two-Day Adult Congenital Heart Disease Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Conference on modern treatment of adult congenital heart disease was successfully hosted at the N. Louros Conference Center, MITERA Hospital. The event was jointly organized by the MITERA Congenital Heart Disease Clinic, a member of HYGEIA Group, and the Kalangos Foundation on Friday 24 May and Saturday 25 May. It coincided with the 10-year anniversary of the Congenital Heart Disease Clinic.
The two-day event was hosted under the aegis of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology and the Hellenic Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons.
Distinguished Greek doctors and international scientists presented the latest developments in managing children and adults with congenital heart disease. The main congenital diseases encountered in everyday practice by pediatric cardiologists and cardiac surgeons were analyzed per topic, while future approaches and research fields were discussed through an interesting exchange of opinions. The speakers also presented the entire range of support offered to families of patients with congenital heart disease by the MITERA Congenital Heart Disease Clinic.
Professor David Anderson from the UK gave an excellent speech on how to make the decision to operate on a patient or not, based on the famous quote by the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates: “Do good, or do no harm.”
The Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Dr Aphrodite Tzifa, Director of the MITERA Hospital Pediatric Cardiology & Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic, noted, “These days, Greek students and young doctors are showing unprecedented interest in the field of Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.
