HYGEIA Group: Information Event on Family and Diabetes
Diabetes Mellitus & Gestational Diabetes Prevention Clinic Established at MITERA Hospital
The HYGEIA Group Endocrinology & Diabetes Department is organizing an event on “Family & Diabetes” at the N. Louros Conference Center, MITERA Hospital, on Saturday December 15, 2018. The event will focus on the systematic monitoring of patients with diabetes within the context of their family environment, from contraception and family planning to pregnancy and delivery.
It aims to highlight just how important the family is in managing diabetes mellitus, both in adults and children. Specialists with long experience in diabetes, endocrinologists, general practitioners, gynecologists, but also nutritionists and psychologists will talk about exercise, proper nutrition, accompanying illnesses, advancements in technology and treatment for patients of all ages, many times within the same family. They will also explore various aspects of the disease and the special needs of these patients.
The event will also focus on gestational diabetes and the establishment of a new dedicated Diabetes Mellitus & Gestational Diabetes Prevention Clinic at MITERA Hospital. As noted by the Director of the HYGEIA Group Endocrinology & Diabetes Department, Professor Evanthia Diamanti-Kandaraki, “The long experience and insights of the multidisciplinary team, coupled with the cutting edge technology available at MITERA Hospital, as well as the trust shown in us by hundreds of women to this day, led to the establishment of a dedicated clinic, which aims to offer individualized and targeted healthcare services to the diabetes community.”
The event is open to the public and it coincides with the World Diabetes Day, which is dedicated to the Family this year.
